Ruling out LCD TV partnership with Foxconn

Hsing C Tuan, president of Innolux Display, recently said Innolux is not ruling out further collaboration with parent company Foxconn Electronics (the registered trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry) for LCD TVs in the future.


Although Innolux and Foxconn both plan to enter the LCD TV market, the two would target different customers initially, Tuan added.Innolux declined to disclose its LCD TV shipment target for 2007, as LCD TV is still at an initial stage for Innolux, stated Tuan.Industry sources said Innolux will ship 500,000 LCD TVs in 2007 while investment firm BNP Paribas expects the maker to ship 700,000 units in 2007.In a February 16 article, Innolux said it plans to set up a plant in Czech Republic in 2007 for LCD monitors initially, with the plant to also produce LCD TVs later.According to component makers, Foxconn will start shipping 26-inch LCD TVs for the US-based Vizio brand starting from this month, with month shipments of at least 30,000 units.
